17/04/08 Endgame

A big thank you to everyone who made it along to one of our last two gigs in March.  We were overwhelmed by the turnout at both gigs and it was great to see so many of you there cheering us on and pleading for us not to quit!  Unfortunately the decision has been made however, so if you didn't come down to one of the gigs you've only got yourself (or your own hectic schedule) to blame.  The last gig at the Water Rats was especially poignant for us all, as we were joined by original member Andy Gott on guitar for the last two songs, Never Awake and Welcome to the World.

Even though we are all moving on to pastures new, we still intend to complete the recordings we have been working on over the last few months.  These will hopefully see the light of day as an EP release on iTunes some time in the summer and we will try to keep you updated on the progress of this.  Tracks will hopefully include recent live favourites The Line, Anything Blue, Silent Army and Colour Me In.

Our album, 'Here Goes Everything', is still available through the shop page and has now been reduced to just £5.99 + p&p (while stocks last). If you haven't yet got your hands on a copy, what are you waiting for?!

Thanks again to everyone who has ever bought one of our cds, attended one of our gigs, or just had something nice to say about us.  It's been fun.

Rich, Mark, Wixy and Dan. x

01/03/08 The End is Nigh...

We are sorry to announce that the time has come for 50Hz to call it a day. Thank you so much for supporting us over the years and making it such an enjoyable ride. Although we have our regrets about splitting up, we are all looking forward to new projects, whatever they may be.

Don't think you won't have the chance to say goodbye though we are playing two farewell gigs in March, on successive Saturdays. If you have ever enjoyed us in the past, please come and help make them nights to remember. And if you've never seen us before, this is your last chance! Your presence at one (or both!) would mean a lot to us. Please forward any names for the guest lists to 50hz@50hertz.co.uk.

We have been finishing off some new recordings recently and hope to have some cds available at the last gig at the Water Rats for those of you who are interested in hearing the last of our 'new material'!

Unfortunately due to difficulties encountered by the promoter of the M-Club in Crewe, Tuesday night's gig (6th November) has been cancelled. Apologies to those people who were planning on coming down.

Details for the Liverpool University gig tonight are now listed on the gigs page. We hope to see some of you there.

15/10/07 Bull & Gate this Thursday, Radio play & Single Release 15th Oct

The band have confirmed a last minute headline gig at the Bull & Gate this coming Thursday (18th October). The band will be on stage at 10:15pm. Thanks to everyone who attended the 'Panic Attack' single launch gig at the Water Rats last Tuesday and contributed towards the success of the night. It was a great turnout and hopefully this bodes well for the band over the coming months.

Monday 15th October (today!) sees the release of 'Panic Attack'/'Waste Your Time' as a double A-side single release through iTunes. Please support the band by downloading the tracks this week, and who knows, they could make a surpirse entry into the top 40 next week! 'Panic Attack' has been receiving good support from 6Music, where it has been played on both the Gideon Coe and Tom Robinson shows. 2 b-sides accompany the single release - 'Lost Future' and 'Pure', both of which are new recordings taken from the 'Here Goes Everything' album sessions.

It has just been confirmed that the band will be playing a 45min set at The Water Rats in Kings Cross on Tuesday 9th October.  'Panic Attack/Waste Your Time' is released on iTunes the day before and there will be a free copy of the single to those who attend the show.

50Hz will release Panic Attack/Waste Your Time as a 'double a-side' single on October 8th. Both tracks are taken from 50Hz's debut album, 'Here Goes Everthing'. You can check out an animated video for Panic Attack (created by Voodoo Films) at www.myspace.com/50hz.

The band have been focusing on writing and recording new material over the last couple of months and will be airing some new songs at their next gig on Wednesday 5th September at Industry in Shoreditch (stage time 9:45pm). There is also a single launch night planned for for early October at The Water Rats in King's Cross. More details to be announced soon.

After this gig (and possibly another gig next week!) the band will be taking a short break from playing live to focus on writing and recording new material. This will hopefully see the light of day in the Autumn, when the band plan to release a new EP as a follow up to the the Panic Attack/Waste Your Time double a-side single in July.

20/02/07 Discovery Gig & New Single Details

Thanks to eveyone who came down to the gig last week at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, and contributed towards it being such a great success. Those who were there were treated to a brand new song, 'Anything Blue', the first fruits of the band's new writing partnership with guitarist Dan Cochrane. Head over to the forum to hear how it went down.

Following on from this gig, the band have been asked to play at a showcase night called Discovery at The Soho Revue Bar on Wednesday 25th April. The event has previously featured the likes of Guillemots, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and Sandi Thom. See 'Gigs' page or check out www.myspace.com/discoverytalent for more information.

We can also confirm that the first single to be taken from 'Here Goes Everything' will be a double A-side release of Panic Attack & Waste Your Time. The band are currently working towards a release date at the end of June. Yes, that exciting day has arrived when you lucky people can finally get your hands on 50Hz's debut album 'Here Goes Everything'. Go to the 'Shop' page now to order your copy.

As those of you who were at the Purple Turtle on Friday will know, unforeseen problems with the final stage of the manufacturing process of the albums meant that there were not any copies available at the the gig. We would like to apologise to anyone who made the trip especially to buy the album, and hope that the 'full album' set went some way to making up for the disappointment.

Details of the first single to be lifted from the album will be revealed in the next few weeks.

26/10/06 50Hz tracks feature in 'Race to Dakar'

Several 50Hz tracks have been featuring in Charley Boorman's new motorbike documentary 'Race to Dakar' currently airing on Sky Two on Tuesdays at 10pm. The first episode went out last week and featured extracts from instrumental versions of 'Over', 'Pure' and 'Here Goes Nothing'. More information about the Dakar Rally can be found here.

05/09/06 'Here Goes Everything'

50Hz will be releasing their debut album 'Here Goes Everything' on Blue Tide Records as a hand-numbered, strictly 1000 limited pressing, available only at gigs or through this website (see 'Shop' page).

05/09/06 50Hz tracks to appear on new TV series

Having had eight songs featured on Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's motorbike documentary, Long Way Round, 50Hz will be soundtracking a new TV series called 'Race to Dakar'. This will follow Charley Boorman's attempt to compete in the Dakar rally, the most challenging race in existence. The series details his extraordinary adventures, and those of his fellow bikers, and also explores the history of this most dramatic and romantic of races. From Portugal through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Mali, Guinea and Senegal, it also provides a unique look at the countries hosting the rally.

We think the series will be airing in the autumn. More details when we have them...
